WWC Welcomes New Faculty
for 2000-2001

Bobbie Sue Schutter Arias, instructor of social work, has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Walla Walla College. Before coming to WWC, Arias worked for Children’s Home Society in Walla Walla.

Eric Ayers, instructor of physics, has a bachelor’s degree from Pacific Union College and a doctorate from North Carolina State University where he was a teaching assistant during his doctoral studies and later a lecturer.

Brandon Beck, associate professor of music, has a bachelor’s degree from WWC and a master’s degree from VanderCook College of Music. Beck previously taught at Auburn Academy before leaving the Northwest to teach for three years at Southern Adventist University.

Joyce L. Flansburg, assistant professor, received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana and a master’s of social work degree from Eastern Washington University. Flansburg comes to WWC from Spokane Falls Community College where she taught for five years in the Social Service para-professional program.

Jean-Paul Grimaud, assistant professor and chair of the Modern Languages Department, has a Liçence en Théologie from the University of Strasbourg, a master’s degree from the University of Grenoble, and a doctorate from the University of Washington. Grimaud, native to France, comes to WWC from Saleve Adventist University, Collonges-sous-Saleve, where he was a teacher.

Pamela Maize Harris, professor of communications, has a bachelor’s degree from Southern Adventist University, a master’s degree from Vanderbilt University, and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee. Harris comes from Southern Adventist University where she was chair of the journalism and communications department.

Hollis James, assistant professor of education, has two bachelor’s degrees from the University of the West Indies, and a master’s of business administration degree from Andrews University. He most recently taught special education at Tuskegee University in Alabama and is working on a doctoral degree in special education from Auburn University.

Bradley Krueger, voice instructor, is a graduate of Union College where he received his bachelor’s degree in music performance. Recently, he has studied with the Aspen Music Festival and with the Oakham International Summer School.

Bruce McClay, assistant librarian, has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia Union College, and a master’s degree from both Andrews University and the University of Missouri­Columbia. McClay most recently came from the University of Texas­Pan American where he was an instructional services librarian.

Michaelynn Paul, instructor of nursing, has a bachelor’s degree from WWC. Previously, Paul was an assistant nurse coordinator for Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Ore.

Deborah Silva, visiting instructor of communications, has a bachelor’s degree from WWC and a master’s degree from Washington State University. Silva previously worked as an announcer and public relations director for KGTS Positive Life Radio, and was a teaching assistant at Washington State University.

Zdravko Stefanovic, professor of biblical studies, has two bachelor’s degrees from the Saleve Adventist University and both a master’s degree and a doctorate from Andrews University. Stefanovic, native to Bosnia, comes to WWC from Andrews University Theological Seminary where he was an adjunct professor.

Louis L. Yaw, assistant professor of engineering, has a bachelor’s degree from WWC and a master’s degree from the University of California at Davis. Yaw is a licensed professional civil engineer and worked as a structural engineer in California.
