A Piece of the Wall  Not far off the ground on the northern end of the library's west wall, and slightly obscured by tree branches, is a gray brick larger than the rest. WWC alumnus John Christian stopped by the Great Wall of China when he and his wife were returning to the U.S. from their missionary work in Burma. Taking any part of the wall was forbidden, but a local guide offered to bring them a brick for a fee. In 1941, Christian donated the brick to the college to be part of a wall in the new library building.
