Building the Board
Nine new members join Walla Walla Colleges Board of Trustees.
Yoswa Gwalamubisi (not pictured) is from Tacoma, Wash., where
he recently retired from serving as education director for the Washington
Corrections Center for Women. Gwalamubisi graduated from WWC in 1970 with
a speech communication major and in 1972 with a masters degree in education.
He holds a doctoral degree in education from Washington State University.
Russell Gilbert is an attorney from Yakima, Wash. He is a graduate
of Southern Adventist College (now Southern Adventist University) and holds
a master of business administration degree from Abila College, and a law degree
from the University of Kansas. He works in the firm of Lyon, Weigand, and
Gustafson.
John Deming (not pictured), principal of Walla Walla Valley
Academy, will be a nonvoting member representing academy principals. Deming
attended WWC in 1993.
Gary Botimer (not pictured) is an orthopedic surgeon from Nampa,
Idaho. He attended WWC in 1973 and received his medical degree from Loma Linda
University School of Medicine. Botimer is also a diplomate on the Medical
Board of Examiners and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Carmen Graham is a homemaker from Issaquah, Wash. She graduated
from WWC in 1956 with a major in secretarial science.
Thomas Allen teaches mathematics, physics, and engineering at
Auburn Adventist Academy. He graduated from WWC in 1976 with a major in industrial
education. Allen has a masters of science degree from Saint Cloud State
University.
Alex Betancourt is an orchardist from Rock Island, Wash. He
serves on the Upper Columbia Conference executive committee.
Sue Smith is a retired academy teacher from Bozeman, Mont. She
is a graduate of La Sierra College (now La Sierra University) and holds a
masters degree from Pacific Union College.
Mumtaz Fargo is a former professor of history at the University of Montana. He received a doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Utah. W
