Campus Currents
Planned Move a Positive Step
There is an air of excitement at Positive Life Radio these days. Staff members trek across campus daily to check on the progress of a new studio under construction.
It feels close, says Kevin Krueger, general station manager. Weve been waiting for this move for a long time.
Since 1963 Positive Life Radio has made its home in the Administration Building, where studio means a converted office space. The station, which will soon move into newly remodeled facilities in the Canaday Technology Center, will feature a new control board, one standard production studio, four small production rooms, an interview studio, superior sound isolation, and ground-level access.
As part of the move, Positive Life Radio will upgrade its 30-year-old, 4,600- watt transmitter. The new tower will require much less maintenance and is able to broadcast at 7,000 watts, slightly expanding coverage to the Tri-Cities area.
The Positive Life Radio Network consists of four stations in eastern Washington, and also broadcasts live over the Internet at www.plr.org. kgts, the local station, serves as a training ground in broadcasting, announcing, and technical skills for many students each year. W
