Now is Our Chance
by Rosa Jimenez
Locating the E.L. Mabley Archives in the Peterson Memorial Library
requires a bit of a search. Tucked between the Media Center and the office
of the systems technician, the small room holds bookshelves and file cabinets
full of Walla Walla Colleges past.
I hunt through this treasure trove several times a year. These visits typically
turn into two or more hours as the allure of old photographs, letters, and
other papers makes me forget other pressing duties. But the time is worth
it.
I always leave this little room proud of what I do, inspired to do better, and with some perspective of what it took to build this collegehard work and yes, a steadfast faith.
Now we have the chance to make our mark. In this issue youll read about the Faith in the Vision campaign, the most extensive revitalization project WWC has undertaken. What will it take? More hard work and yes, a steadfast faith in the vision. You will read more about this endeavor in the months to come in Westwind.
While administrators and many of our faculty and staff have been developing plans for this major project, the Westwind staff has also been doing some of its own revitalization planning.
For the last few months we have been working on a new design for the magazine. Westwinds new look is the work of Robert Car, a 1999 WWC graduate. We asked Robert for a design with space for larger photographs and a more inviting look.
I hope you enjoy the new Westwind!
