Administration Building Construction Under Way

With the growl of a tractor and crunch of metal on dirt, construction began on the new Administration Building in early September.

“The Administration Building is a central part of our campus and it is stirring to see this progress,” says President Jon Dybdahl. “We’re glad to have construction under way.”

A Spokane company, Leone & Keeble, Inc., is building the new structure, which was designed by the company Salmon Bay Design and Professional Practice Environment. The new building will resemble the design of the first Ad Building, which, after several remodels, was finally razed in 2003.

“It will be nice to have the Ad Building back,” says CJ Anderson, a senior mass communications major. “Everything seems disjointed right now with no central location on campus. As a symbol of the school, the Ad Building will pull the campus back together.”

Construction is expected to last through at least 2006. When completed, the building will house administrative offices, as well as the academic departments of history and English, and the School of Theology.

“Even if you don’t live near Walla Walla College you can keep track of the progress,” says Dorita Tessier, director of capital campaigns. An Administration Building construction website is available and includes updates, photos, and a web cam.  W
