Time Capsule
This Walla Walla College inter-department delivery envelope
was used
from 1974 to 1978. Mouse over the names on the envelope to find out about
that person. Also, names of people written on the envelope are listed below
in alphabetical order. (The names that we couldn't identify
are listed at the end. )
Fred Bennett is a retired and living in College
Place. He taught
engineering at WWC for more than 30 years and is a 1955 WWC graduate.
Delores Berg worked as a secretary
for the School of Nursing for one
year after receiving an associated degree from WWC in 1975. As a
student, her name was Delores Anderson and married WWC alum Ray L.
Berg after her graduation. Delores and Burt live in Eagle Creek, Ore., and
attend the Hood View Seventh-day Adventist Church. Since 1980, Delores has
worked as an admitting and unit clerk for the emergency department of Portland
Adventist Medical Center. Ray is a self employed general contractor here in
the Portland area.
Lewis Canaday taught industrial
arts from 1953 to 1979. A professor
emeritus of industrial technology, Lewis died in 1990. As a tribute
to his accomplishments and service to WWC, the technology building was
named the Canaday Technology Center in 1984.
Arthur Christensen graduated from
WWC in 1966 with major in German. He was later employed in the student accounts
office. Arthur is now
deceased.
Mary Ellen Dassenko was assistant dean of women from 1977 to 1980. She died in the 1980s.
C.E. Davis, better known as Chuck
Davis, graduated from WWC in 1959.
He was director of purchasing from 1966 to 1986. He now makes his home in
Vancouver, Wash.
Don Dawes continues to teach industrial
education (auto mechanics) at
WWC. He is a 1961 WWC graduate and has taught at WWC since 1976.
Scott Duncan was director of audio
visual services from 1971 to 1985.
He still lives in College Place and is a research assistant at a title
company in Walla Walla.
In 1978 Betty Duncan was the freshman
academic advisor. She is still
with the college today as the director of academic advisement.
Edna Grove taught in the Education
Department from 1963 to 1966, 1974 to 1976 and 1977 to 1980. Edna, who is
now deceased, was a 1963
graduate of WWC.
Kenneth Gruesback retired in 1992
after teaching graphics technology
at WWC for 24 years. He is now retired and lives in McDonald, Tenn.
Lois Hellie was business office
manager from 1968 to 1979. Before she
retired a few years ago she also worked for information services
(computer) department. Lois lives in Walla Walla.
Gordon Johnson taught physics at
WWC from 1974 to 2001. He is now
director of undergraduate physics laboratory at Washington State
University. Gordon, a 1966 WWC graduate, lives in Pullman, Wash.
Anne Lindt was on the WWC nursing faculty from 1973 to 1981.
Elwin Liske taught industrial education
and technology from 1964 to
1982. He now lives in Anacortes, Wash.
Bonnie Meske worked in the accounting
office. She and her husband,
"Dean" Meske, are both retired and living in College Place.
Myrlene Finch was the secretary
for the academic administration
office. She now lives in Lake Oswego, Ore., and is office administrator for
the U.S. sales division of Biotronik, a German pacemaker company.
Bob Neel taught in the School of Engineering.
Harold Ochs, a 1950 WWC graduate,
taught education at WWC from 1970 to 1991. He is retired and living in College
Place. At College Place's
first annual Veteran's Day parade held in 2002, he represented WWC
veterans.
Ruth Schneider, a 1973 nursing
graduate, taught nursing at WWC from
1974 to 1988. She lives in Walla Walla.
Vernon Siver served as financial vice-president at WWC.
N. Clifford Sorensen was president
of WWC from 1976-1985, and
2001-2002. He is retired and lives in Lynden, Wash.
Calvin Trautwein was a member of
the industrial education and
technology faculty from 1953 to 1961 and from 1962 to 1980. He is now
deceased.
