All my life I have heard ‘oh, I know your dad. He drove the college truck!’ Doyle Saxby says my dad ran over him while he was running across the street near the school. Thelma McCoy remembers her cello blowing off the top of the truck on a band/orchestra trip. From 1939 to 1941, dad met virtually every bus and train to pick up arriving students. He also hauled instruments for music trips, coal from the railway and wood from the Blue Mountains.”
